Annie Duke and Jeffrey Pollack are two of the people that will head a new professional poker league which will be launched soon.

Poker might get its very own professional league soon, at least according to an article from Associated Press that specifies that Annie Duke will be its commissioner. This league will have professional players in it and it will have certain guidelines that need to be followed in order for the players to keep their card. These cards will be given for periods of 2,3 or 5 years. There will also be less than 10 memberships with lifetime periods on them. People like Doyle Brunson will receive these.

Jeffrey Pollack is the co-founder of the Federated Sports and Gambling company, which will organize this league. He will also be the chairman of this league. Two hundred players will get invites to take part in this league, with the invites being given based on formulas which consider money earned, major live events finishes and history in tournaments.

There were a total of 136 players that took part in this event, all hoping to get a guaranteed seat for the May 2011 National Championship finals. Besides this seat, the winner of the event also got a prize of $358,295.

There were plenty of well known poker players here and among them were Katchalov (15th), Ramdin (12th) or Beth Shak (11th). Waxman, even though he got his spot at the National Championship event was hoping to make his mark here as well, but he only got 10th place unfortunately.

Chris Bell was the winner of the final table in the end and he received a gold Championship ring and a prize of $358,295 as a reward. We will see him at Caesars Palace National Championship on May 27th. Chris Klodnicki got the second place and he took home $221,452.
